With Gratitude

A thankful heart is not only the greatest virtue, but the parent of all the other virtues.  ~Cicero
Thanksgiving is nothing if not a glad and reverent lifting of the heart to God in honor and praise for His goodness.
~Robert Casper Lintner
God has two dwellings; one in heaven, and the other in a meek and thankful heart.
 ~Izaak Walton
If I have enjoyed the hospitality of the Host of this universe, Who daily spreads a table in my sight, surely I cannot do less than acknowledge my dependence.
~G.A. Johnston Ross
Not what we say about our blessings, but how we use them, is the true measure of our thanksgiving.  ~W.T. Purkiser
The unthankful heart... discovers no mercies; but let the thankful heart sweep through the day and, as the magnet finds the iron, so it will find, in every hour, some heavenly blessings!  ~Henry Ward Beecher
Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life.  It turns what we have into enough, and more.  It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity.  It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend.  Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today and creates a vision for tomorrow.
~Melody Beattie

A Note to Self

When driving down your road in any condition, it would be advisable to keep your EYES on the ROAD.  I looked down for a little too long looking for something and ran right up a snowbank.  Ugh!
Katry was a sweety and ran home to get Dad while Laini and I waited it out.   Brigham arrived snow shovel in hand, and Katry arrived with her camera to document the damage.
This is a funny picture of Elaina and I watching our hero at work.  Kaleb saw the opportunity to play in the snow and took it.
We have such great neighbors!  One neighbor provided a tow rope, another his 4 wheel drive truck, and a couple neighbors called to check on me while I was still in the snowbank.
There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.

Thanksgiving Weekend

We had a lovely Thanksgiving Week.  The kids had school off,  Brigham had work off and we had a lot of playing to do.  We did not disappoint.  It snowed and snowed and was very frigid.  We spent two days in Farmington and a day in Alpine.  I forgot to get the camera out in Farmington,  but we had so much fun playing with the Burnetts and Redds.  Here are some highlights of the week:
* Thanksgiving Feast Scavenger Hunt- we got enough food and turkeys for 11 full turkey dinners*
* Movies*
*The Mandarin*
*BYU game with most of the fam*
*Turkey Bowl in the snow*
*Scum*
* Turkey Dinner x 2*
* Perfect Pies*
* Lots of Family*
* Lots of Love*

We've got the moves!

These pictures speak for themselves!
Katry had the best moves- cause she was the winner!
Kai- was hilarious!  After every roll of the ball he would hop up and down clapping until the ball reached the end.  He kept saying, "I love this game!"

The reverse granny and the slide.

Wounded In Action

It doesn't look like much in this picture, but this cut goes clear down to his achilles tendon.  He is lucky he didn't slice that.
Luckily, his dad has a few good skills in the area of stitchery, and our island doubles as an operating table.
A bullet to bite on- Classic!
A few good stitches,
and a week on the crutches to keep the stitches from tearing.  Happily, he only missed one football game and then got right back at it.

Fall, We've Fallen For You

We are loving the beautiful Fall weather.  It has got to be the best time of the year.  Nice, comfortable days and cool, crisp evenings.  Every day of nice weather seems like a special gift.  Particularly because we had several cold days in the beginning of September.
Happiness is a grateful spirit, an optimistic attitude, and a heart full of love.”

“If the sight of the blue skies fills you with joy, if a blade of grass springing up in the fields has power to move you, if the simple things in nature have a message you understand, Rejoice, for your soul is alive.”
- Eleanora Duse-

A joyful heart is the inevitable result of a heart burning with love." -Mother Teresa-

"Believe in yourself. Believe in your capacity to do great and good things. Believe that no mountain is so high that you cannot climb it. Believe that no storm is so great that you cannot weather it. You are not destined to be a scrub. You are a child of God, of infinite capacity.

Believe that you can do it whatever it is that you set your heart on. Opportunities will unfold and open before you. The skies will clear when they have been dark with portent...He who is our Eternal Father has blessed you with miraculous powers of mind and body. He never intended that you should be less than the crowning glory of His creations."- President Gordon B. Hinckley
