Grandparents Day

Once a year  we don the caps of Gramps & Granny at the local elementary school.
We bring in a delicious lunch and a few excited siblings.
Play on the playground for recess.
Gramps gets in on the games.
Everyone has a great time!
Then we go home and try to resume our normal schedules.
It's always fun
and we don't mind it one bit!

Katry in Motion

Katry recently competed in the Knights of Columbus shoot out.  She won first place in her age division and first place over all the girls.  She was just one missed shot away from being  in first place among the boys as well.
This is one of her super shots that she scored on.  Katry plays center mid field.  The best position on the planet.  Although, she has been known to play forward and most recently- sweeper- when the coach wants to stop terrorizing the other team with her as a forward.
She is so much fun to watch!

This Week in Numbers

We had a great week in sports- as usual.
Seth number 88,  scored a touchdown adding 6 points.
He had 1 Amazing catch in a tight situation.
He plays tight end, corner back, kicker and kick returner.
He had 5 beautiful kickoffs.
Because of his great soccer skills- he has an amazing kick.  The coaches are astounded by his abilities.  One coach said- I don't usually care much for soccer players- but you are making me change my mind.  They tell him where to kick the ball and he puts it there.  The coach said in all his years of coaching he has never been able to direct a kick.  Another coach said- he is better than the high school players.  The referee at his last game said- OK now- lets hit this one out of the end zone.  Seth knew better than to do that- but it landed on the 1 yard line.  So that has been really fun for him.
1 knock out smile and 2 sparkling eyes!
Kaleb number 7 , had his first soccer game.   He played awesome defense and 0 goals were scored on him.
He looked over after every touch on the ball to see a thumbs up from his fans.  Super cute!
Katry number 13, scored 3 goals and plays with amazing heart.
Brigham number 7, scored 2goals and saved 1 goal from being scored while simultaneously breaking his own goalies leg.  Oops!  He went to clear a ball out of the way just as the goalie ran in front of him.
Now that's power!

Harvesting

Every once in awhile you have to have a party out in the garden and gather strawberries.  You can just kind of see Seth running off (through the trees)  to plaster Brigham with over ripe berries.  Ahh!  Good times, good jam, good frozen berries for snacking, smoothies and shakes.  We have had a bountiful harvest- in fact we can't store any more and they just keep coming.  Come and get em!
The obligatory giant zucchini.  We missed this one and it got so big -we wanted to see how big it would get.  Surprisingly, it stopped growing after awhile.  The kids sure loved posing with it though.

Enjoy Life!  This isn't a dress rehearsal!

Labor Day Weekend

Labor Day weekend we headed up to Island Park to do some camping.  I use the term camping lightly cause we went with our good friends the Andersons.  They have a very very nice camper that we all slept in.
We did roast marshmallows- but we also watched a movie that night- with each of us viewing on one of their FOUR large screen TVs.  Crazy!  We even slept in a heated room.  It was definitely luxury camping.
Saturday we headed out on the Lake.  The kids found a rope swing and it was more than a little scary.  They had to swing out really far to make sure that they avoided hitting some rocks.  It took a long time to get up their courage.  Finally, Brig jumped out and showed them how it was done- then they all followed suit.  The water was freezing- well 54 and the temperature outside was only 68.  Needless to say- nobody skied but we did have fun exploring the lake.
Then we went for a drive and saw some beautiful spots.  We did a little 4 wheeling.
Big Fish Spring was beautiful.  The water was so clear.

Fish gazing!
Muskrat Suzie

We went on a Trek up a hillside- and back down again.
Love these boys!
Head Dipping- the water here was 52 degrees.

Boys are crazy!  Always up for a challenge!
We drove home Saturday night after another movie.  Monday we performed a little Labor, played a lot and invited some families over for a BBQ and swimming.  Good times!  We got a new ice cream maker this year and have had a blast with it.  Several Sunday nights we have invited several families over, made ice cream- played and chatted.   We love getting the most out of these final summer nights!
