Travelogue Pompeii: Day 2

On our 2nd day we took a train and headed down to Pompeii.
Pompeii was covered in volcanic ash over a 2 day period in 79AD.

It was amazing how much of it has been perfectly preserved. The paved streets, mosaic floors, fresco walls, sports arenas, bath houses, temples, restaurants, etc. It was really cool to walk the streets and imagine life in 6-2nd century BC.
At the end of our day- we went back to the train station- we had about 25 minutes until our train came. Since we were in the birthplace of Naples- we sent Brigham out to hunt some down for us while we waited for the train. We would have all gone- but I was exhausted from walking all day- being 6 months pregnant will do that to you. Anyway, as soon as he left- I started panicking. It was dark outside, Naples has a reputation for being a dirty, theft ridden city. Fortunately, Brigham was back in about 15 minutes and I started bawling. I was so relieved to have him back, and we vowed to not separate again.
We headed back to Rome, found a great restaurant with some amazing- lasagna, swordfish, pizza and gnocchi. Then of course, we topped it of with some divine gelato and then found our beds and crashed.
