Pest: House of Terror

On a beautiful stretch of urban Budapest lies a building numbered 60 Andrassy Boulevard.  Here some of the most horrific acts in Hungarian history took place.  The former headquarters of two of the countries darkest regimes - the Arrow Cross(think Gestapo) and the AVO/AVH( communist Hungary's secret police).  This museum documented the atrocities endured by Hungary during the 20th century.
It is a very well done and emotional museum.  Probably the item that touched me the most was this "Iron Curtain" just outside of the building.  The inscription says, "...Shall we live as slaves or free men?  Sandor Petofi.  It isolated the East from the West.  It split Europe and the World in two.  It took away our freedom.  It held us in captivity and fear.  It tormented and humiliated us.
And finally we tore it down."
