Dog Bite

Cute Kaleb was out in our next door neighbors backyard.  The neighbor boys were hollering and crying because a stray dog had jumped up on one of them and he was afraid.  Kaleb came over to see what all the ruckus was about.  Another neighbor was there with his two dogs (not on leashes).  They were excited due to all the hollering.  One of the dogs went to jump on a smaller neighbor boy and Kaleb got in front of him to protect him, then the dumb dog just opened up and bit Kaleb on the nose.  As you can see it was a circumferential bite and was barely hanging on in a couple of areas.  The skin in the middle was sinking in and loosing blood supply.  Brigham and our neighbor gave him a blessing and within minutes the skin started to pink up and the blood flow returned.  Love the Priesthood!   Kaleb wanted to go into the bathroom and wash his hands- so I went with him, not wanting him to be alone when he saw it.  He looked so crestfallen when he saw himself in the mirror.  But the first thing he said was- Mom, will you pray for me?  What sweet faith!
Our neighbor- whose dog had attacked Kaleb- just happens to be a plastic surgeon, so we all went down to his office and sewed him up.  The surgeon lifted the end of his nose up entirely- like a flip top nose.  I was just so grateful that it hadn't come off completely.   Poor guy was miserable for a few days.  So many sweet neighbors and friends brought over gifts and treats and helped this little boy to feel loved- despite feeling like a "freak".
A week later we removed the stitches and it looks pretty darn good and keeps getting getting better every week.  He wants nothing to do with dogs now, but we are grateful that a rough situation turned out so well.

Senior Pictures

Yikes!  How is it possible I have a Senior!?!
He needed a picture for the yearbook, so we went outside and shot a few.
We looked at a bunch of pictures before going out.  The above was a recurring theme in the female pictures.  We both thought it was pretty goofy- so we had to mock it.  The sun was not cooperating in any of our shots.  Too many shadows.
SO we waited another day and tried again when it was overcast.  Love how this turned out- no shadows on the eyes!  Love this kiddo!  So handsome and fun!

Creative and Cute!
Darn wasp sting- swelled up his little hand.
A typical afternoon at our home.

Not sure what this is about- but he sure is cute!

State Fair

We finally braved the State Fair this year- and I am so glad we did.
The kids loved the animals!

The highlight was watching the bare back riding Indians.  It was awesome.  A guy would ride around the track, jump off and then without a saddle or rope or anything to climb on, would jump on the back of the next horse and race around again.  It was intense and they would do the horse change right in front of the Grand Stand.  We also tried the most popular food at the fair a hamburger with cheese, barbeque sauce, and bacon on a....wait for it.......krispy creme glazed donut bun!  It was delish!

Massive Corn Production

Our garden was once again very bountiful!
Many hands make light work!

The Great Chicken Experiment

So we were chicken owners for a few months.  We checked with our city ordinances to find out how many chickens we could own, but forgot that we have our own neighborhood HOA.  Turns out they find chickens to be more annoying than their own barking dogs.  Anywho they didn't last long, but we enjoyed them while we had them.
Kai adored the chickens, as did all the neighborhood kids who would come over and play with them.
In fact he told me that when he grows up he wants to "be a zookeeper and take care of chickens".
These are two roosters we had to take over to our friends home.  No crowing roosters allowed.
(I didn't want to hear them either.)
We raised these babies up from little chicks, and were fortunate enough to get a few eggs before they were sent off to a new home.

Labor Day Weekend

Labor Day Weekend means camping.
We joined our good friends the Andersons.  They have a two fancy pants 5th wheels and they loaned us one for the weekend.  It was even heated at night- heavenly!

We rode bikes, four wheelers and razors.
Kai- popping a wheelie, once was enough!
Clearing the trail

We got to see two moose- wish I had my camera.
Rifle Sharp Shooters.
It was a great weekend!
